INSPIRING YOUNG TALENT TO GET EXCITED ABOUT ENTREPRENEURSHIP

In early October, we launched our first online education program in partnership with the prestigious government organization, the International Trade Institute of Taiwan. The purpose of this program was to promote entrepreneurship in Taiwan as a way to help accelerate the ecosystem and encourage young talent to build and launch new businesses that could help diversify the Taiwanese economy. Taiwan has a lot of potential with a robust economy and strong educational system. This country has the ability to develop strong talent into the labor market. For that reason, there’s an enormous amount of interest from Silicon Valley tech companies to tap into such markets to gain access to this new wave of tech talent (see Forbes article here). Hence, we’re proud to play an important role by equipping young Taiwanese talent with the necessary tools and frameworks, to help them in their entrepreneurial journey, or intrapreneurially journey, if you will.

The STARTUP SCHOOL Program

Our program was developed on the foundation of three core pillars: 1) Learn By Doing 2) Exposure to Validated Frameworks and Concepts and 3) Access and Exposure to Experts. Over the course of the four months, we took students through an “Entrepreneur’s Journey” by simulating an environment that allowed them to create, test and validate new ideas by leveraging the tools and frameworks taught throughout the course. In addition, the students had the opportunity to learn from Silicon Valley experts through webinars, that exposed them to real case studies on entrepreneurs who have both successfully and unsuccessfully, built companies. These seminars included sharing personal stories of ups and downs, that served not only as a motivational tool, but also taught young talent that endurance and hard work can pay off if you continue to develop your skills and work hard to reach new goals. The 10X curriculum has been developed by Aaron McDaniel, the VP of Entrepreneurship, who also teaches this program at the Berkeley Haas School of Business.

THANKS TO 10X PARTNERS

We’re incredibly grateful for our partnership with the International Trade Institute and look forward to deepening the relationship in 2019. The program concluded in early March, whereby we conducted the last courses at the Taichung and Kaohsiung campuses in Central and South Taiwan. We’ll share some of the student stories from the course in the coming months.
