About Jonathan Hua

Jonathan is an early stage VC at Scrum Ventures in Silicon Valley who supports, empowers and invests in ambitious founders and globally focused startups helping to build smarter societies for a better future. At Scrum, he's focused on fast growing and tech-enabled services and products in consumer and industrial food tech, digital health and wellness, supply chain and logistics, B2B SaaS, productivity, future of work, AI and workflow automation.

Previously, Jonathan managed the award-winning THRIVE AgTech Accelerator at SVG Ventures. During his time leading THRIVE, they were recognized by AgFunder as the "Most Valuable Agrifood Tech Accelerator" in the world. He also hosted/emceed the THRIVE Challenge pitch competitions on global stages such as the Forbes AgTech Summit, PMA Fresh Summit and South By South West (SXSW) to audiences of thousands of people. Prior to THRIVE, Jonathan led international partnerships at Silicon Valley Forum and co-founded a few startups.

Growing up, he spent a decade of time living in Japan and Taiwan. Jonathan spends a lot of time mentoring and advising startups in Indigo Ag's Terraton Challenge, 500 Startups, Alchemist Accelerator, and Nex Cubed's Digital Healthcare Accelerator, among others. During his career, Jonathan has also been recognized by AgGrad as a "30 Under 30" in Entrepreneurship, was invited as a speaker at the Forbes Under 30 Summit, and was most recently named a "Young Global Green Opportunity Enabler" by Energy Innovation Network. He has a BA in History from Rice University and an MBA from the Cornell University - Johnson Graduate School of Management.
