About Carolina Garcia Rizo
Dr. Garcia Rizo is a highly accomplished global business developer with 15+ years of experience in biotech recognized for a strong commercial and technology background. Most recently, she was the Chief Business Officer of Just Biotherapeutics, responsible for strategy, business development, finances, and business operations. She is passionate about leveraging machine learning (ML) to improve efficiency and speed in Healthcare and Biotech.
Carolina joined Just from Thermo Fisher where she was the Global Managing Director, BD. In this role, she was responsible for developing strategic partnerships across the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry for the commercialization of oncology-based diagnostics and Companion Diagnostics. Carolina also contributed to the organization's efforts in precision medicine by developing data-driven business models and bioinformatic strategy.
Previously, Carolina worked for Roche, heading BD Oncology and Genomics, focusing on CDx with external pharma. Previously to Roche, she served as Director, Worldwide Market Development at Cepheid focused on turn arounds of underperforming markets. Carolina's diverse experience also includes strategic consultant at Monitor Group (Deloitte), Technology commercialization at MIT, and working as a research scientist at UCSF and Max-Planck Institute.
Carolina has an MBA from MIT and a Ph.D. performed in Atomic and Molecular Physics at CSIC, CNRS, and UC Berkeley, where she was a Fulbright Scholar.
